Conclusion of the Literature Course

This year I thought it would be boring to study literature because I had used the same book last year and thought we would see the same stories I had already read but it was not so. Literature was one of my favorite subjects of the year because it was not difficult, boring it was full of different activities throughout the year even though I did not like reading much. Before, if I read was by obligation, but now it has become so easy to finish a book in a short time and to analyze it at the end.
One thing I learned this year is that in literature you not only read books or stories can also be songs, poems, art projects,movies and even new versions of the princess tales.
Overall it was an excellent year to learn new things and different points of view.

Something Wicked this Way Comes by Ray Bradbury

It is a novel of fantasy because a Carnival of Terror arrives to Green Town and starts doing weird stuff to the persons that enter in there.
The interesting thing of this book is the way in which two kids could be so different and so similar like the Yin Yang one is dark and the other lighter. One of the kids named Will Halloway was born in October 30th and the other kid, Jim Nightshade, was born in October 31st (Halloween) few minutes but a lot of difference. They grew up together because there mothers where neighbors and they passed a lot of adventures in the carnival because of the evil Mr. Dark.
Theres only one little difficult thing of the book that is not the number of pages, is that at the beginning of the novel the language is very strange and not common but when you continue reading you start understanding because you get used to the type of language.  The novel is really recommendable if you want to have a time of suspense because you never expect what is going to happen next.

Much Ado About Nothing

The title of this play can have many different meanings, in a sexual context, spying others people conversation or in the simple one nothing of no-thing. In the play appears the three types of meanings in different acts.
One question that I have is that if you can fall in love with a person just because you heard you like it, is that possible? or you made it just for compromise with that person.  In the story two people hate each other because of being the same type and just because they notting there friends and family saying that the like each other they fall in love but really sweet love not normal love.
I liked the play but sometimes it was too much love and sweetness when real life is not that way in the reality you suffer and get hurt because of love.

Exile by Julia Alvarez

It was nice and strong at the same time because it made me think about what it would happen if I go one day to another country without expecting it, I would be so afraid of what could happen, if they accept me or not, if I could fit in there, if the economy of my house would be the same or it would get worst and harder, if the language would get difficult to me, I do not n¡know many thing would pass through my head in that moment also I would miss all my family and friends, my culture and my food, everything would change for me so that is why we have to enjoy where we live and what we have in this moment because we do not know what could happen in a future.

Taxi by Amy Lowell

It is an innovated and weird idea because nobody talks about the sensation that feels when she lefts her taxi usually poems are for the ones you love but in this case this person loves so much her taxi that she would died for it so that is really rare or uncommon.
We used to like the poems that we feel they are telling our story but this one is different, in this poem even though you do not feel that for a taxi you think about it to live without your ipod or cellphone or something you love to carry with you.
I liked it.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Roald Dahl

In few words, I love it! it was so fun and creative that make me laugh so much, also i liked it because it rhymed and the story changed of course and ended with tons of dollars because of the jockeys won and and everyone lived happily ever after.

I wish we could read in a not far future some more stuff from Roald Dahl because is really good and fresh for young people like us.

Shakespeare

When we saw in class Shakespeare I was very excited because two of my favorite plays are from him,  A Midsummer Night's Dream and Romeo and Juliet because are about love and all the things the characters passed for trying to have a happy ending. 
   Personaly I hated Romeo and Juliet movie but the one in which Leonardo DiCaprio appears because I feel like they are laughing of William Shakespeare and if he would reborn he would die again after watching that movie.
William Shakespear is of the major writers that other writers want to be because of his great talent and the form in which he wrote so many literary works and sonnets in a short period of time because of the requirements of his time.
   It is such a coincidence that two of the greatest writers in the world died in the same year and that the year was 1616, It is not great?
I hope that the creativity and innovation of that time come again for making really good literary pieces.

Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou

This poem is amazing because it makes every woman to feel pretty and make them proud of their body and also to says thanks because I am woman.  Being a  woman is a great thing because every man admire us and we could have a little creature inside us but some times every woman forgets about that and make them feel less than who they are so we never have to feel ugly just because we are woman.

Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden

I loved this poem because it made me think that I never tell thanks to my parents for all the things they gave me even though I do not feel I deserve them.  I always thought those things were part of their obligations as parents but they only give me those things because they want me to make me happy but the real things that should make me happy are all the smiles at the morning for me having a nice day or them waking up early and giving me a good morning kiss.

I love my parents!

What is Poetry?

Almost every teenager think that poetry is the boring lesson in which you read crazy and sentimental guys that always talk about girls they love but for me poetry is the spontaneous way to express feelings like love, hate or it could be happiness.  It is a nice way to tell your feelings to the other person and to them understand what you are passing by.  So now that poetry it coulb be in a free way why not try to make one?
